✨ 5 September 2025 ✨
Every Friday, the Church invites us to remember the Cross of Jesus. 💜 It’s a reminder that our sins matter—but even more, that God’s mercy is greater than anything we could imagine (cf. CCC 1846; 1 John 1:9).
Instead of looking outward at all the chaos in the world, let’s look inward—at our hearts. Where do I need to grow in love? Where have I been holding back from God?
For a long time, I struggled with guilt. I felt like a failure for not being “perfect.” Maybe you’ve felt that too. But here’s the truth: God already knows us completely, and He loves us completely (Psalm 139; CCC 27). Think of how a mom looks at her child when they stumble—still loved, still precious, just needing a gentle hand to get back up. That’s how God looks at us. 💕
Today, I want to reflect on the sin of sloth—or as the Desert Fathers called it, acedia. It’s that spiritual laziness that makes us distract ourselves with endless scrolling 📱 or busyness, instead of focusing on what God is really calling us to.
Saint John Paul II once said: “Man cannot fully find himself except through a sincere gift of himself.” And that’s what holiness is: giving ourselves in love to God and others.
So let’s pause today. Let’s repent of sloth, ask for grace to live with purpose, and remember that His mercy never runs out (Lamentations 3:22–23).
🙏 Prayer 🙏
“In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Heavenly Father, I repent of the times I’ve chosen distraction over You. Give me the grace to use my time well—for prayer, for love, for Your kingdom. Teach me to rest in You, and to give myself fully in love. Amen.”
